Merry Little Labels Treat Gift Box

Hey crafty friends! I wanted to share a fun little project with you today. I often love giving delicious treats during the holidays. I really love these adorable Mini Pizza Boxes for delivering my handmade goodies. They can be colored in any color you like and even stamped on. You can create fun tags to them for an added creative touch and even add stenciled on patterns to name just a few ideas. To top it all off, these boxes are food safe, so you can put all kinds of treats in them.

For my project today, I took a piece of patterned paper from the Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper (DSP) and cut it down to wrap my box. After wrapping it around my box, I cut a few circles, one from Basic Black Cardstock and one from Pool Party Cardstock, and adhered them to the patterned paper. Next, I took some Bermuda Bay 3/8” Stitched Satin Ribbon and wrapped it around my box. I then, took a stamp from the Merry Little Labels Stamp Set and stamped it in Basic Black Ink onto some Bermuda Bay Cardstock and used the coordinating punch to punch it out. I added a strand of Silver Mini Sequin Trim behind it and added it to my box. To finish it off, I die cut a few snowflakes, added a bow made from Pool Party Solid Baker’s Twine, and added some Rhinestone Basic Jewels. Well, that’s my project for today! I hope you liked it and I’ll see you next post!

Festive Phrases Christmas Card with Two Types of Embossing

Hey Peaches! How was your weekend?! We’ve had a great start to our holiday week here. In the states we celebrate Thanksgiving which means a whole week off from school!!!! So we’re already enjoying pre-Thanksgiving parties and get togethers. Our tradition in my house it to wait until the day after Thanksgiving to put up all of our Christmas decorations . However, in the plastic few years we’ve started a little early because we knew we wouldn’t be able to do it until later with conflicting schedules, and I have really liked the additional time we have gotten to enjoy our beautiful decorations. After all, we do it up pretty big here at my house so it takes most of the day to get it done. We might as well enjoy them as long as possible right?!

Well, now that we have the holidays on the brain, let’s just go right into my Christmas card. I’ve shared in a prior post a while back how I like to mix textures and techniques to create more interest on my projects. Well, in case you’ve just found me, I’ll just share a few more tips.

Sometimes it’s fun to give the eye multiple textures to look at and embossing can be a great way to achieve this. My card today uses both dry and wet embossing techniques. It’s a great way to get lots of texture into your project and both techniques are very simple, but here’s a few tips.

For the dry embossing part, most commonly, embossing folders are the tool to use. They take all the guess work out of the process and the price point is very reasonable . I used the Winter Wonder Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on a piece of Pink Pirouette cardstock cut at 4” x 5 1/4” for my top panel (my base is the same color cardstock cut at 4 1/4” x 11” scored at 5 1/2”), and I placed my panel in the lower left corner of the folder so that the snowflake would be slightly sitting on the lower left edge, just hanging off the edge a little. Now I was ready for the next type of embossing.

For “wet/heat” embossing, you need embossing powder and something for it to stick to. I like to use Versamark ink. It’s a sticky ink that remains wet longer than the typical ink. It has other uses as well, but for the purpose of this post, we’re just going to discuss its use with embossing powders. You would tap your stamp into this ink just as you would any other ink. The only difference is that this ink will be hard to see when you stamp it. I also recommend that before you actually stamp your image, that you use the Embossing Buddy. This is a must have tool for me when heat embossing. It is essentially an anti-static tool that, when applied to the area before stamping, will prevent any powder from sticking to anywhere but where you stamp the ink. So now that you’ve applied your powder and stamped your image, you’re ready to heat/melt the powder.

The heat embossed process is actually kind of magical to watch. I took the elf stamp from Stampin’ Up!’s Festive Phrases Stamp Set, inked it up in Versamark ink, and stamped it onto some Whisper White cardstock. Then I added my Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder over top of my freshly stamped image. Now for the magic. Take your Heat Tool, turn it on, and before I put it to my project, I like to let it get good and hot (about 30 seconds). Then I slowly run it over my image. You continue to do this until you see the powder melt and turn metallic. It’s really fun to watch.

After the heat embossing was done I cut the sentiment out of the rest of the image sine I didn’t want to rest of the image, just the sentiment. I added a few layers of elements that included a few banners, snowflakes, and embellishments and that finished off my card. Thanks so much for stopping by and I’ll see you next post!

Hang Your Stocking Christmas Card

Hello, sweet peaches! I have a quick post to share with you today. I’ve been playing catch-up lately with some projects that I had volunteered to help with st my daughter’s school, so that’s been taking up a lot of my down time. But..as many of you may know by now-there’s ALWAYS time for crafting somewhere, even if I have to do it at 1am in the morning, lol. So without further ado, on to my card.

I’ve been trying to challenge myself to try more non traditional color combinations for my Christmas cards. Now ordinarily I’m 100% a traditionalist all the way. I love the greens and reds and golds or even a little silver in my Christmas colors. Yet, I am also aware that not everyone loves the same things as me, so I’ve been trying a few different color combos.

This time I’m trying a very “Christmas chic” or elegant look. I wanted a bold clean look for this holiday card, so I began with die cutting some stocking from the Christmas Stockings Die Set out of Basic Black, Whisper White, and Real Red Cardstock. Then I took a panel of Basic Black cut at 4” x 5 1/4” and ran it through my big shot with the Holly Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I layered this on top of my Basic Black card base. I felt like my card needed something to ground the stockings so  I took a smaller piece of Real Red Cardstock and stamped it with the Diagonal Striped Background Stamp in Real Red Ink. Then I layered that on top of my embossed panel and tucked a few snowflakes behind it. Then I arranged my stockings onto the red stamped piece. For the final touch I took some Silver Metallic Thread and die cut the word “Noel” from the same die set in Basic Black cardstock and added the thread in a semi messy fashion behind my sentiment. And that completed my card for today. I hope you liked today’s project and I’m so happy you stopped by! See you next post!
